" . . . sitting on the terrace of my favourite café, I reflect upon the way I capture the images which inspire me. I think back to the criticisms, testimonials and encounters which led me to question myself and compelled me . . . I realise, I am not a photographer. I prefer to describe myself as an "image catcher", using both a "tool" and my eyes to capture the moments which touched or moved me . . . My desire, my need to go beyond the limits, those of others, but especially my own . . . Thus, I push forward, sometimes clumsily, but always with respect . . . This drives me to reach out to other people, to exchange ideas and emotions. I want to shape and sculpt the emotion of the moment, the invisible beauty of the individuals and the moments that often go unnoticed… I'm not obsessed with perfection . . . I focus on the essence of the image, how it tells a story or captures an emotion. I'm free ¡ I can play with light or shadow and even alter the image afterwards to give a sensory effect . . I'm delighted. I can be alive and free to explore the beauty or unsightliness of our world . . . "
L'Individu evades social codes and prejudices to propose a style that is true to his expressions, blending mystery, sensuality, audacity, the ordinary and... the extraordinary.
His photographs are a celebration of humanity's diversity, exploring the mysteries of the human soul with an exceptional delicacy.
Passionate, his work explores the beauty or unique 'strangeness' of each individual. With a bold, non-conformist approach, he transcends social norms to capture the idiosyncrasy of each subject.
L'Individu is a photographic artist born in Istanbul (1979). He has been living and working in Nice (France) since 1998.
His photographs have been exhibited in numerous art galleries around the world: Montreal, Lisbon, Berlin, Edinburgh, Mexico City, Barcelona, Bucharest, Los Angeles, Athens and Hanoi....
They have also been published in magazines such as Dark Beauty Magazine, Dodho Magazine, Inked Magazine, and Eye Photo Magazine.
L'Individu has won numerous awards and distinctions, including the Laureate Vision Excellence Awards in the Portrait category in 2019. He received the European Photographer qualification from FEP (Federation of European Photographers) in 2020.
