Messages from buyers

Where they arrive, how to answer, and what we filter out.

Anyone who visits your page can write to you. Those messages arrive here, not in your personal inbox, so you are not handing out your e-mail address to the whole internet.

Inbox and archive

New messages land in the Inbox. Three things you can do with one:

  • Archive — keeps it, out of the way. For anything you have dealt with.
  • Put it back in the inbox — from the archive, if it turns out not to be finished.
  • Delete for good — gone, no undo.

Archive rather than delete. A conversation from two years ago that suddenly leads to a sale is not unusual.

Answering

Reply from here and your answer goes out under the subject *Re: your message via Online Gallery*, so the person recognises it.

Answer quickly, even if the answer is short. Someone writing about a work is standing in front of their screen with their mind made up; a week later they have moved on.

What we filter out

We strip phone numbers and e-mail addresses out of messages from people who have not been through the normal route. It keeps the scrapers and the "I want to buy your work, here is my shipping agent" mails away from you.

Still stuck?

Write to us and a person answers, usually the same day.
