Margareth Adama

Biography of Margareth Adama (hereafter referred to as Madama) was born in Jakarta but grew up in Amsterdam. After completing HBS, she went to the Rietveld Academy. After the Rietveld Academy, she studied cultural anthropology, art history of Southeast Asia, and philosophy for a short time.

Madama has had several galleries in Amsterdam and later in Amersfoort. She has exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, including 2 group exhibitions in 1978 and 1979 and a performance. From 1980 until its dissolution in 1987, she was part of the Visual Artists Regulation. In 1986, she co-founded Villa Baranka with Fridi Martina (1986-1988). Villa Baranka was a crossover of various disciplines; namely painting/theater/music and dinners thematically connected to the exhibition's theme. A transcultural experience and exchange of experiences, both personal and political. In November 2018, the archive of Villa Baranka was transferred to ATRIA, the knowledge institute for emancipation and women's history because Villa Baranka has been of importance according to ATRIA.[1]

In 1996, she founded Capella Almadama in Amersfoort, an Art & Education center (1996-2002). Here, new exhibitions of her work with poems and a concert in which the audience determined the paintings to be played were organized every 6 weeks. See Exhibitions. During this period, Madama also started giving workshops, including one on dynamic leadership developed for Business University Nyenrode, where participants also painted and the interpretation of the paintings said something about their leadership style.

These Artventures (a combination of Art and adventure) were tailored to the goal, target group, and the result to be achieved. In 2002, she moved to Maria Hoop. Here she has a gallery, studio, and coaching practice. Under the title 'Madama Modern Sacred Art from the Heart', she had a large retrospective exhibition in 2016 at the ECI Culture Factory Roermond. 'Art as a transmission of Life Force, an Installation of Inspiration' Modern tapestries. Madama has developed a process in which she often paints unstretched canvases (scrolls) of monumental size on both sides. These canvases can hang freely in space, the painting as a sculpture.

The most recent project is the Color Temple, consisting of 12 canvases of 220 x 150 cm, one side a monochrome often with a structure, the other side an 'emblem' on a white background. (2017-2019) Madama lives and works in Maria Hoop (L) and exhibits both nationally and internationally. Books In 2005, the book Heaven Gates was published by Koppenhol. It contains 39 poems and images that have also been printed as cards. In 2010, I Am Maria Hoop was published by Elikser. A book with questions for Maria. The answers are accompanied by an explanation and application. In 2013, The New Current, Art as Medicine of Being, Dutch-English was published. 366 images of paintings and a poem for each painting. Each image/poem has an I AM Code that summarizes that item in a keyword. In 2016, The TAO of the I AM, Splendor Solis, The Power of the Sun in yourself was published. 26 images, 10 chapters with mystical texts, a modern book of hours with a foreword by Prof. H. Witteveen.
