Moving an address you already have
What we need from you and what happens to your old messages.
If you already have an address on your domain with another provider, it can come with you. Your address stays exactly the same — only the server behind it changes.
What we need from you
- Which address it is, for example info@yourdomain.com.
- Whether the old messages should come along. If you have years of correspondence in there, say so. If you never used it, we can skip that part and it is a great deal quicker.
- How you want to read it afterwards: forwarded to the inbox you already use, or as a real mailbox with its own login and webmail.
If the old messages need to come, we also need access to the old mailbox — either the password, or a copy exported by your old provider.
How it goes
We set everything up first and only switch at the end. In order:
- We prepare your address on the new server.
- We copy your old messages across, if there are any.
- We change the setting that decides where new mail is delivered.
- You check that a test message arrives.
- Only then does the old mailbox get switched off.
What changes for you
If we forward the mail to your existing inbox, nothing. Messages keep arriving where they always did.
If you want to reply from your own address as well, there is one thing to set up in your mail programme — see the guide for Gmail, Outlook or your phone.
