ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art
A ship-like building on a beach south of Copenhagen, built for contemporary art.

The deconstructivist architecture reads as a stranded vessel; inside, a long curved Art Axis leads past Hirst, Kusama and Danish contemporaries. The dunes are directly outside.

Thomas Dambo builds giant friendly figures entirely from waste wood and discarded materials — a favourite with families, indoors and in the sculpture park.
Ann Lislegaard's animated worlds blur the line between animal, machine and language — science fiction as a way of rethinking who gets to speak.
