Daily Lessons is the time when the parent whooping crane teaches the juvenile to find food, or feeds it herself. This is a typical scene in any marsh or pond where the chick is growing and learning from the parent. I photographed whooping cranes at the demonstration pond at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin. This is a place where citizens can visit and observe all 15 species of cranes, 13 of them from parts of the world other than the U.S. This species is endangered, as many of the species either are or very vulnerable, and ICF works to preserve their wetlands around the world and save this beautiful, graceful bird. While the outside measurement of the gold metal frame is 21"x27", there is a 4 inch off-white archival mat around the painting. So, the painting is actually 13"x19". The price here includes shipping. There can be some negotiation on this if the buyer lives in the Chicago area.
