Captured Value explores the fragile balance between possession and release, joy and loss. A 50-euro banknote, Number SA6663116327, is sealed in transparent epoxy, captured between function and meaning. One side remains untouched, carrying the quiet weight of what it once was; the other is partially painted in bright neon tones, showing the shift from money to art. By preserving a familiar but valuable note, Jack turns a simple question into a permanent reflection: what makes something valuable? “Value,” he says, “is not what you possess but what you are willing to lose for it.” The note is still recognizable, yet forever out of reach. Its worth now lies in what was sacrificed to create it. Tiny air bubbles inside the epoxy act as marks of authenticity. They hold the memory of a note once made to move, now frozen in time. No longer spendable, it stands as a reminder that value is both a feeling and a choice.
