Polar Vortex

The polar vortex was impressed upon us in the Chicago area one winter when it was very cold and the snow blew across the air nearly blinding the view across the way. I like using oil and cold wax for this painting, which reminds me of the wind and the very cold white snow. Other colors fade as they hide behind the curtain of snow. I have used faint colors of blue and pinks and yellows for grasses, but all are vague. I also sprinkled salt in places, so there is a snowy texture which looks real! Also there are a few strokes of oil stick to show grasses. This medium was ideal for the blur effect!
