This series transcends the pure square grid of 5 x 5 sub-squares by: Variant 1-2) consolidating the base squares into double blocks, so that in the end only a single final square remains, which acts as a dissolving center window - or as a keystone. The 12 tertiary colors are oriented according to the Itten color wheel - following it clockwise, skipping one neighboring color each time. The aim is to constructively resolve several tension tasks: The color-in-itself contrast, the light-dark contrast - as well as the quantitative contrast through different numbers of differently colored subgroups. By arranging the partial areas of a selected color subgroup into a primary, dominant figure, which stands in a harmonic or contrastively dynamic tension relationship to the background of the surrounding secondary partial areas, the overall composition emerges.
