Martin Stranka is a self-taught photographer born in Prague on April 13, 1984. He began pursuing photography after the unexpected death of a close friend, initially as a form of therapy while studying business. What started as a hobby eventually became his profession.
Over the last several years, Stranka has won more than eighty major international photography awards, including the Sony World Photography Awards, Professional Photographer of the Year, Nikon International Photo Contest, and Prix de la Photographie Paris. He has won the International Photography Awards eleven times in a row. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Basel, Tokyo, Milan, London, Miami, Paris, Prague, Hong Kong, and Kiev.
His photographs have been presented in galleries including Getty Images Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, THINK+feel Contemporary Art Gallery, and SNAP! Orlando. His work has been shown alongside that of Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, Banksy, Damien Hirst, Helmut Newton, and Erwin Olaf. Stranka has been featured at SCOPE, an international art fair held annually during Art Basel week in New York City, Miami, and Basel.
