Sam Haynes

Sam Haynes is a mid-career visual artist based in London, working primarily with sculpture and site specific installations. With an ‘Art in Architecture’ MA from UEL (’96 -’98) and an interdisciplinary background, her elegantly balanced and resourceful use of materials seeks to both surprise and engage.

Interested in physicality and materiality of forms, Haynes uses photography both within the process of development and the final presentation of work. Her abstract, geometric assemblages incorporate found objects and materials, referencing domestic and architectural spaces, using colour and lighting to dynamic effect.

Haynes has worked in arts facilitation for many years which continues to influence her artistic practise, engaging local, often marginalised communities, working in partnership with charities and public art commissioners.  As well as leading Arts Council funded projects she has exhibited interactive sculpture at the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden, and collaborative, site specific artwork at the Southbank’s Royal Festival Hall.  

Launching her new series of assemblage photo artworks at the beginning of 2021,  Haynes was selected for the first Fair Art Fair ‘Curated 1’ show at Unit 1 Gallery, London and the FLUX exhibition in the Greenwich Design District.
