About the artist
My name is Nanda Bussers (The Netherlands) and I try to create a deeper and universal layer in my artistic and abstract images. Telling a visual story with a meaning. I find it magical seeing new things in the subjects I photograph, discovering unknown worlds or figures. Playing with colors and shapes.
It is about feeling, emotion and expression. An image has been successful for me if something happens and if there is a certain depth in it. When I hear from the viewer that he/she keeps looking at my image and sees new things over and over again. As in a kind of fantasy world in which you can continue to dream away and fantasize. And the viewer claims the imagination/interpretation and can think or feel his/her own story. Inspired, intrigued, touched by and enjoying my art. But also to be able to offer comfort, warmth and bright points in more difficult times.
So I am not talking about reality, but about the essence and the expression of a certain feeling. A kind of artistic expression. Images that transcend observation. Often you don't see what I actually photographed. Don't know exactly what you see. The subjects I photograph always come from the natural world.
With a fascination for ice in particular. Ice that undergoes continuous transformation. Always moving, takes different shapes and colors. I can discover something new in the details over and over again. Something new is emerging that is no longer to be traced back to reality. I like to be amazed by this and photograph discovering and intuitive.
Life and death
My photos are characterized by a dreamy and mysterious atmosphere, and there’s often a certain symbolism in them. Life and death are a recurring theme in my art photography.
I hope you will enjoy it!
