Selected at the XLV Air and Space Army Awards 2024

"Bells of Peace", acrylic on watercolor paper, 150 x 100 cm.
Work selected for the XLV Air and Space Army Awards 2024.
This artistic proposal builds a clear and direct message about the service vocation of armies in society, both within and outside the national territory and especially sensitive in times of calamity.
The work represents the aerial launch of humanitarian aid from an A400M of the Air and Space Army, carried out through a pictorial technique that borrows from the avant-garde of Op-art, a meticulous and elaborate graphic resource, black lines of variable stroke width that configure a recognizable scene for the observer, where “the whole” in the elements of the work, as in the essence of the spirit of military unity, is more than “the sum of its parts”.
The realization of this idea in black and white responds to the need to emphasize the harshness and drama of the concept, and at the same time seeks to endow the work with visual impact, the graphic force is also given by the pregnance of minimalism in the composition.
After having launched the load and fulfilled its mission, the plane moves away with the ramp still open while the ephemeral trace suspended in the sky takes center stage, finally a handful of parachutes descending with all their bells deployed over the white background becomes a fleeting testimony of silence and peace.
