About the work
This imposing and massive bust of Napoleon Bonaparte is made by the contemporary Dutch artist Michel van den Born. Van den Borns work is well-known to the high society in the ˜Middle East, thanks to his remarkable golden sculptures which represent the high-profile signatures of several (political) powers from the knowledge of history. In this case; Van den Born was inspired by the megalomania of Napoleons power. ˜His visits to Paris still penetrate the awareness of the fact that Napoleon is still alive. In Paris. In Europe. In fact: everywhere. Van den Borns admiration has rightly so leaded to this magnitude which is therefore even bigger; or in other words: larger than life! The very realistic and truthful torso of Napoleon has nevertheless been showed at exhibitions such as PAN, The Luxury Fair Amsterdam, Tefaf and Cologne Fine Art Koln. The high quality bronze and black patinated bust of Napoleon is posed on a massive pedestal of a very rare Italian marble (Calacatta); which has been able to form thanks to mitre-cut engineering. For the first time; the unique and hand signed sculpture is for sale. It had always been part of Van den Born personal collection without any damage what so ever. Needless to say; the statue will be sold with a signed Certificate of authenticity by the artist.
