Malala

I was reading Malala Yousefzai's story in the news when it happened in Pakistan. She was shot coming from school, by those who do not believe females should be educated. She and her father were very adamant about girls being educated. This is impressive! I followed her story of strength and recovery, so admiring her. She has a wonderful confident face which is an ideal subject for a portrait. The painting background indicates the Swat Valley behind her, where she lived, the river, then the mountain range.
