About the work
Clouds, yeay! When I had set up all the paining gear it started to rain really hard. Got really wet, but the sky afterwards was worth the waiting. There is a little bit of sand on the painting because of the stormy weather, part of the charm I think.

About the artist
Marieke Ackerman has been drawing and painting since she was very young. She was inspired and encouraged to do so by her mother and grandfather. Marieke followed various painting courses at Doet Boersma, James Tatum and Roos Schuring.
Marieke finds her inspiration in nature. Her work covers a wide spectrum of landscapes. Marieke looks for light or beautiful colours to paint. In her paintings she tries to capture the essence and ambience of the location.
Marieke's painting style is loose and she paints with clear brushstrokes. Since Marieke started painting with oil paint, she paints her paintings wet in wet (alla prima). She loves painting en plein air (outdoors). Marieke likes to paint seascapes. It seems simple: you have sky, water, beach and sometimes people. But simple is not the same as easy. There are not many details to hide behind. Marieke also paints places in her surroundings. Marieke lives in Driebergen.
