Kiss The World Asleep Not quite a sunset yet, but close. When the sun pierces through the cloud cover in winter, I have to take my chance. Too often the sun disappears behind a thick gray blanket immediately after briefly showing itself, only to show its face again the next day (or even a few days later). And if it also feels like the sun kisses the world before going to sleep, I have another good reason to quickly make a series of photos.... I don't often make vertically oriented photos. Just because the camera then is not comfortable in my hands. This one too was landscape oriented, but I cropped it vertically, because that makes the composition stronger and the special light glow on the water stand out better. 'Kiss The World Asleep' is a newly added photo to the collection 'Infinite Sea'. I made it standing on the dunes, north of the town of Agger, North Jutland, Denmark. All limited edition prints are signed and numbered by hand and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Many sizes available up to 140 H x 210 W cm. Other materials (canvas, Baryta paper, mounted on hard foam, print on extreme gloss foil, framed) and other sizes on request. Do you prefer to frame the artwork yourself (or have it framed) instead of mounting it on alu-dibond? No problem, send me a message and I'll send you a quote of the print on museum quality paper. Production time is 7-10 working days. All my artworks are original photographs 'made in camera'. This means that I never use filters or editing software to manipulate my photos. This is a custom made fine art inktjet / giclée print. Since it will be custom made for you, there is NO RETURN OPTION.
My main inspiration is the vulnerability of nature. I see changes in nature. I see the effects of urbanization, the pressure of pollution and of the changes in the climate. I hope to make people aware of that vulnerability by sharing what I feel when I look around me. Daily life in the western world is overflowing with stimuli that continuously force our senses to the limit of their abilities. In my photographs I seek to capture the simplicity and tranquility of natural environments and to share my experience of nature’s soul. I was born in the city of Gouda, the Netherlands in 1959. In the summer of 2018 my wife and I moved from a larger city in The Netherlands to a small hamlet in northwest Jutland. We fell in love with the Thy-region about ten years ago… We live a simple, minimalistic life, as self sufficient and sustainable as possible, and we love it… The North Sea and the nature reserve National Park Thy are my muses.
