About Iain Dryden
I have been invited to exhibit at CICA Museum,( internationally respected for modern art).
The emotional impact of colour has driven my work which gradually became more abstract as hue increasingly took over from form. Exploring colour and geometric shape has gripped me as I worked out emotive journeys leading to meditations within a size and shape with pleasing harmony, usually 50x50cm. My childhood role models - a bright and noble tribe in Kenya, influenced my outlook and, subconsciously, my eye. Leaving Kenya, I walked and travelled, often selling my artwork to fund my way; in London I built up my own small art firm which I gave freely to my workers when I eventually taught in schools. Poor health stopped this. I sold paintings in galleries, but my depleted energy went into writing and illustrating books (for children, education and the BBC). I have recently created several illustrated books on finding calmness within and I continue to generate artworks.
