About the work

I was planning to paint something else, but all of a sudden I had this vivid vision of a dark grey super matte painting. I said to myself: "Why not?", I was curious to see what will occur. While working on it,  I was thinking what would this painting mean, the word "C a r b o n" popped up.

As all my works have a direct connection with what is going on in the world, and people look for explanation of my works, here is what I think it might signify. As we all know, a vast part of humanity is crossing over from an egocentric, material life to an egoless, lovefilled and spiritual life. There is a belief that the final part of the Transformation will be the transmutation of the Carbon in human DNA. This will empower us to make it to the New Earth.

This painting has been sold, but please do not hesitate to contact me for a commission.

About the artist

Cristina Balan is an abstract artist. Born in Moldova, she studied arts from the age of five. Very early on, her works were exhibited at various artistic performances in Moldova and abroad. The fall of the Soviet Union paused Cristina’s creative ascension, as after graduating the School of Fine Arts she had to work in the corporate world to be able to support herself. In her thirties, she became a prominent business community leader, and in early forties was appointed as the Ambassador to the United States.

In 2019, after an almost 20-year hiatus from painting, Cristina returned full-time to art, her abstract paintings being quickly noticed and appreciated by the public. Contemporary art magazines featured her works. Her paintings have been displayed in art shows in Washington D.C., New York City, and Kiev. Cristina’s works are currently featured by art galleries from NYC, Tokyo, Barcelona and Treviso, as well as artsy.com.
