Caroline Chopin
About Caroline Chopin
To be free and embrace the material and its calls, to explore another form of reality and to give it body and soul in the fantastic of her imagination, is the " driving force" of Caroline Chopin.
Caroline Chopin shapes the ceramic and sculpts these bodies, defined and stirred by the heartbeat of their lives.
She, herself, suggests, and then dictates the pace with a vivid and fragmented modelling where gesture is fundamental.
Seizing the "scale", the sculptor encounters disequilibrium and allows herself to distort; forging a true, uncontained act, a dual aesthetic, between strength and fragility.
"I aim to challenge the viewer, to call upon his instincts, his body, his flesh as a fundamental place of perception and bring him to the reflection and suggestion of our profound and wild nature...This instinctive, creative and powerful aspect, which we often modestly keep buried and yet connect us to the world."
