About the work
Mandala Starry Night – bas – relief/mosaic.
There are many barriers to overcome to see the starry sky at night. First, light invented by human. In electric light, the night sky is hostile and very dark. Another barrier is smog and city smoke. It's hard to see even the moon, the sky is dim and the surrounding reality – surreal. After the smog is dispelled, another one follows – clouds that obscure the starry sky. They are also sometimes hostile, they arrange into various shapes that the human eye perceives as malevolent. The night is dark with them. However, when the wind blows away clouds, fog, smog, electric light is turned off, the dark night begins to resound with colors. Stars appear in the sky, closer and further away, one next to the other from our perspective. Some flicker and go out, others shine strongly with their light. Magic is happening in the sky. You can rarely see this magic, but regardless of whether we see it or not, it is worth to remember that it – behind the barriers – is always there. The night is not dark, it is starry – magical.
The work is a form of assemblage formed into a bas-relief with a mandala structure using own technique. The material used to create the mandala – worn wires and computer cables – was sourced from the Recycling Center.
Due to the hand-made and the material from which it is made, the finished product may slightly differ from the pattern presented on the website.
