About the work

The story I want to tell you starts deep in the earth. It's about meaning and deep feelings. About the idea of becoming richer from giving than taking, the feelings of love and tenacity that are caused by this belief. That is why I give oxygen in the hope that from the inside you are just like me. This drawing is part of a series in which, for the first time in my artistic life, I can tell the complete story in one visual. Image and word together form the story. The works contain a message to make the world more peaceful, sustainable and honest. Therefore they are often statements and sometimes also politically charged. The viewer can ignore the message or do something with it. My surname is Van den Boom (Dutch for tree) and therefore inextricably linked to nature and trees in particular.
